The patient's right to choose a  physician 
In Slovakia a patient  has a right to choose not only a GP, but also a specialist within a recommended specialism as well. If you have a recommendation letter from your GP to see a  specialist, it will be for the specialism , not an exact named physician. You can choose a physician in the same specialism not only in your district, but within the whole of the country. First of all you can check with your chosen physician's office, if he/she has enough points from your Slovak insurance company to cover the cost of your examination at this time. If yes, your examination will be free of charge (covered by your insurance company), but if not there you will need to pay according to their price list.
